Ouch!
Ouch! The other day guys I smashed my index finger as I slammed the door after I had a not so nice argument with my wife. Yep, I said it, I had an argument with my wife can you believe that? You want to hear the story?
Well you know how married life is, you meet the girl of your dreams, you love her and can hardly wait to hold her and take care of her the rest of your life, then you get married. A funny thing happens after you get married: LIFE! Yep, life hits you right in between your eyes with bills, kids, and everything you can think of that can get in the way of you and your Chula (your wife).
So this is what happened, for some unknown reason I was a little mad over a specific topic. You know Mr. Husband had to set things straight, right? Well after I had my choice words to say to my wife and thinking to myself, "there take that and don't let it happen again", you know how men are wanting to be tough and right I wanted to say what I had to say and turn my back, walk out, and slam the door right behind me. Sounds good right? Well as I slammed the door behind me I slammed the door right on my index finger, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! Oh yea it hurt real bad too. Mr. Tough guy making his point as he slams the door on his index finger. As I walked away from the door I thought to myself, "great, real nice one Partida, making a big scene, making your point and then making a BIGGER fool of yourself by slamming the door on your finger". As I walked away I thought to myself, "I hope my wife didn't see that". Eventually I had to make things right again by saying I'm sorry and reminding her that I love Her.
The funny thing about this whole thing is when I slammed the door on my index finger it made it bleed underneath my finger nail. So when you have bleeding under your finger nail it creates a blood stain, a stain that I can see, that my wife can see and a stain that anybody else can see. It also does not go away fast, it lasted on my finger 3 months after the argument. So you know what that means right? Almost everyone wanted to know what happened to my finger, even my MOTHER. So now I had a choice to make, do I make up some kind of story telling them that my son stepped on my finger or do I man up and tell the truth? You all know the answer to that, I needed to man up and tell the truth about my stupidity. I had to tell all kinds of people the truth about the incident, family, friends and even people at work.
I came to realize that this was a great teaching moment for me in my life and for anyone who asked what happened to my finger. The moral guys and women is to take responsibility for your actions. No one is perfect and when you do mess up, like I did on that foolish day, we all need to take responsibility. I later had to go back to my wife and apologize. I needed to make things right whether it was my fault or not and this is the real challenge in a man's life. It is always your responsibility to make sure the family is in the right order. Isn't this what being a HERO is all about? Being someone that your family can count on even though you still make mistakes? ENDURING. I can laugh about it know and people do laugh when they hear me tell the story but that day it was no laughing matter. So the next time you find yourself in a bad situation, remember, be the HERO in your family in the good times and the tough times.
